Dear fellow families
of Coram Deo Academy,
It’s Monday night.
My children have finished their multi-hour quest to complete their homework assignments, and are now enjoying some well deserved leisure time.
Today I had the delight of helping proof-read an assignment for my 7th grade daughter. (Who knew that bear-grease was a common mosquito repellant for the Lewis and Clark expeditionary troop?) Often I am gobsmacked when I read or hear about what my children are privileged to study. My 11th grader is meditating on the practical implications of the Greek tense of the word produce used by Christ in John 15. My 10th grader is engrossed by the details and design of the cellular system he’s discovering in Human Anatomy. I love CDA and am so thankful for what our kids are receiving.
I want to remind us all of the reason that Coram Deo Academy exists. CDA was formed over a decade ago by Reverend Van Dyken (aka “The Rev”), constrained by his simple but radical vision: reviving the ancient and proven principles of classical education while cultivating young hearts and young minds for Christ.
By the mercy of Christ, CDA has not strayed from this vision. CDA does not exist for monetary profit. We, by God’s grace, are in it for the long-haul, praying that we might serve our children’s children and grandchildren with a high-quality, gospel-saturated, discipleship-educational process.
Partnership
Coram Deo Academy’s mission is to partner with Christian families and their local churches. In so doing, we believe that we are aligning ourselves with God’s revealed will, when he states that it is the responsibility of the father (or mother where there is no father), to raise up their children in the …fear and instruction of the LORD. (Ephesians 6:4). We partner, not as individuals, but families with families, churches with churches, for the good of our community and the glory of God.
