Our Story
Coram Deo Academy was established in 2008 as an enrichment program for homeschooled high school students using classical and Christian tools and methods. Classes met at Richland Baptist Church in Richland, Washington. A volunteer board directed the business of the Academy, with Reverend Donald VanDyken as Headmaster.
In 2012, parents and board members found enough interest to launch a formal grammar school for kindergarten through grade 2, with the plan to add grades each year. Over the next few years CDA grew to include the Logic level and a second location.

In 2018, Reverend VanDyken retired and Mrs. Crystal Eberle was appointed Head of School, where she would serve faithfully for six years. CDA moved from our Richland location to Quinault Baptist Church that same year. This allowed the Academy to grow our Logic School and provide more space for everyone.
In the fall of 2020, we added our first group of rhetoric students under the leadership of Mrs. Carolyn Johnson, and in the spring of 2024, after progressing all the way through the rhetoric school, they became Coram Deo Academy’s first graduating class. Mrs. Carolyn Johnson was given the role of Headmaster during the summer of 2024 and leads the combined school campus at Quinault Baptist Church.
We continue to pray for and look forward to the day when our school will have space to grow even more for the good of our community and the glory of God.
